Admission Procedure

Through discussion and prayer with your family, seek if God is leading you to apply at SMHS.

Complete the following application forms: Click here to download a printable version of the entire packet.

  1. Fill out the application parts of the green Application for Admission form. Have your parents fill out the back of the form.
  2. Have your parents sign the yellow Medical Release Statement.
  3. Mail the first two forms promptly to the school to begin your application file.
  4. Write your name on the blue Pastor’s Recommendation form and give it to your pastor to complete and mail to SMHS. If you are a pastor’s son or daughter, please ask another pastor, deacon or church leader to complete the form.
  5. Write your name on the orange Academic Information form and ask the administrator of the school you currently attend to complete it and return it to SMHS.
  6. The front side of the PA Physical Examination is to be filled in by you or your parents.  The reverse side must be filled out and signed by a doctor after a physical exam.  We suggest you have the reverse side filled out in conjunction with your driver’s license physical.  If you have had no prior physical examinations, one will be needed before you enroll.  Please contact SMHS if an exception needs to be made.

When we have received most of your application, we will notify you and will schedule a time for an interview with the administrator and/or a board member to discuss your desire to enroll, your educational goals and special interests, as well as determine your elective preferences for the coming year.  Both of your parents should plan on attending with you.  You will be notified by mail concerning your acceptance to Schaefferstown Mennonite High School shortly after the interview.

Each full time freshmen student will take a placement test in Math and Music Theory to determine class groupings for the freshmen year.  Typically this happens about the middle of August.

Any SMHS patron family is able to apply for the Faith Builders Scholarship Program. The guidelines for this program are administered by Faith Builders as part of the Pennsylvania educational tax credit programs. Click here to download this application.

TUITION POLICY

Tuition is set by the school board each school term and is payable in four quarterly payments, or by ten monthly payments starting September 1.

Tuition accounts paid in full before September 15 each term are eligible to receive a 2% discount.

All tuition must be paid in full at the end of each school year, unless other arrangements are made with the school board.

Patrons that do not have the previous year’s tuition paid by August 1 may not return to school the following year unless the SMHS school board approves a time extension at their meeting in August.

You will receive a payment booklet with the year’s tuition broken down for you, for each payment option. Please fill out and include the appropriate slip with your payment each time. There are stubs in the booklet for you to keep track of your payment amounts as well.

In many Christian education programs, the tuition alone is not sufficient to meet all financial needs. The school then needs to depend on gifts and donations from parents, friends, and interested people.

All gifts and donations are tax deductible and should be sent to:
